Data were collected using a pre-designed YRBSS (Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance
Survey) questionnaire to examine smokeless tobacco (SLT) use. The logistic regression analysis demonstrated that male adolescents whose parents and friends use
smokeless tobacco, who have limited health education and exposure in public environments, and who perceive comfort
and appeal in using smokeless tobacco, were all significantly associated with an increased likelihood of smokeless tobacco
use among adolescents.
Conclusion: There is an urgent requirement for focused interventions and public health initiatives to diminish the use of
SLT and to tackle the social influences and perceptions associated with it.

Keywords: Tobacco, Smokeless, Adolescent, Health Impact Assessment
2025-05-12T08:43:06+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://jmmc.mmc.edu.pk/index.php/JMMC/article/view/495A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of Magnesium Sulfate in treating acute bronchial asthma in children: Nebulized versus intravenous administration.2025-05-15T02:10:03+00:00Ayesha Shafiqsyedsahib1@yahoo.comHina Batool Siddiquihinairtaza14@gmail.comMadiha Ikramsyedsahib1@yahoo.comNasreen Alishahsahib123@gmail.comMadiha Noorshahsahib123@gmail.com
Objective: To compare the mean PRAM score between Nebulized Magnesium Sulphate and IV Magnesium Sulphate in children with acute bronchial asthma.
Methodology: This prospective Comparative study was conducted between6th February 2024 to 15th August 2024 at Pediatric ER Dept. PAF Hospital Islamabad. A total of 70 children of acute moderate and severe asthma of either gen-der in age 2 to 12 years old were included. Patients were “divided into two groups”. “Group A” received IV Magnesium Sulfate and “Group B” received nebulized Magnesium Sulphate. PRAM score was recorded at and 60 minutes after the presentation.
Results: The mean age of children in Group A was 7.06 ±2.27 & in Group B were 7.66 ±2.44 years. Most of patients 44 (62.8%) were between 7 and 12 years of age. Out of these 70, 43 (62%) males and 27 (38%) females with male to fe-male ratio of 1.6:1. The study comprised 60 cases of astrocytoma. Biopsy samples of different grades of Astrocytoma were extensively investigated and included in the current research, taking into consideration their patients’ age, demographic characteristics, clinical information and histological findings. This study reviewed and approved by Institutional Review Board (IRB) of JPMC. The data was an-alyzed using IBM-SPSS version 23.0, utilizing the Pearson Chi-Square test of independence. The P-value of 0.05 was set as statistically significant.
Results: A total of sixty astrocytic tumour cases were investigated. As per the findings of this investigation, the mean age of study participants was 31.5 years, ranging from 4 to 65 years. Male outnumber (34, 56.6%) female (26, 43.3%). The frontal lobe (31.7%), posterior fossa (16.7), and parietal region (11.7) were among the more frequently afflicted sites.
Conclusion: Diffuse astrocytoma was the most frequently observed, while anaplastic astrocytic tumours were the least prevalent. The frequency of tooth brushing was higher among females by 18.5% com-pared to only 6.5% of males brushing their teeth twice daily. Males (30.4%) had visited a dentist while the rate for fe-males was 25.8%. The use of inter-dental aids was 34.5% and 7.5%, between females and males, respectively.
Conclusion: Although current tooth brushing habits fall short of the international guideline, we found males having more favourable attitude towards oral health behaviors as compared to female.
