JMMC does not charge for submission. Manuscripts are only invoiced if accepted for publication.

 

Article Processing Charge
Original Research Articles: PKR 10,000 (corresponding author based in Pakistan) or USD 100 (corresponding author based outside Pakistan).

All other article types, i.e., case reports, case series, reviews, meta-analyses, short communications, and letters to the editor, are published free of charge.

Payment is due after a manuscript has been accepted, and before it is scheduled for publication. No payment is requested or collected at the point of submission or during peer review.

 

Fee Waivers
JMMC's primary goal is to accelerate the dissemination of high-quality research without placing an undue financial burden on researchers or their institutions. We recognize that some institutions have limited funding for research activities, and that the ability to pay publication charges should never determine whether sound research reaches publication.

Fee waivers are considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the corresponding author's country classification alongside their individual circumstances. Authors from low-income countries may be granted a waiver of up to 100% of the publication charge.

To request a waiver, authors should include a brief explanation in their cover letter at the time of submission, stating the basis for the request. Waiver requests are not required to follow a fixed format, but should give the editorial office enough context to evaluate them fairly, for example, the absence of institutional or grant funding to cover publication costs, the author's status as a student or trainee without independent research funding, or financial hardship specific to the author's circumstances.

Waiver decisions are made by the editorial office and are entirely independent of the peer review process. Peer reviewers are not informed of any waiver request, and a manuscript's acceptance or rejection is never influenced by whether a waiver has been sought or granted.

Authors will be notified of the outcome of a waiver request within 14 days of submission. Authors are encouraged to request a waiver at submission rather than after acceptance, so that the request can be reviewed alongside the manuscript and resolved before an invoice is issued.
